Buying Used Cars
When it comes time to purchase a vehicle, many people will only
consider buying used cars because they are cheaper and make good
financial sense. Cars tend to depreciate in value about 15% to
20% each year, and a new car takes the biggest depreciation hit
of all. Once a new car is driven off the lot, it instantly loses
an average of 30% of its retail value.
The choice of buying a used car vs. a new one
largely depends on experiences we have had in the past, our
financial situation, how long we tend to keep a car and how we
feel about owning something that is “used”.
Many years ago when cars were less reliable as
they are today, a used car was “out of the question” for most
people. Times have changed though, which is why the used car
market is booming today.
Why Buy Used Cars?
There are many good reasons for buying used cars instead of new
ones, and I encourage you to continue exploring this website to
find out why.
Today it is not uncommon for any mid-range
American or import car to last well over 150,000 miles, as long
as the car has maintained properly. This is great news for us
consumers, because it means we can save a lot of money by buying
a used car and we get essentially the same longevity out of it
as we would a new one!
I’ve purchased around 15 cars within the last 25
years or so, and all but two have been used cars.
"Yes, I trade cars more often than the average American –
I love the thought of driving something different every few
years. Some girls like buying shoes, I like buying cars …"
I have purchased some “dogs” over the years, and I have also
bought some used car “gems”. I have learned from experience what
to look for when buying used cars, how to tell a good seller
from a bad one, how to determine the
best time to buy a used car, and how to properly research my
prospective used car purchase to ensure I don’t get “burned”. I
will share all this with you on this website…..
To sum up, buying used cars instead of new ones
is a “win-win” situation for anyone who doesn’t mind driving
something that someone else used to own. I’m sold on the
benefits of buying used cars, and this is my personal
preference.
There are some real “diamonds for the taking”
out there in the used car market, and buying a used car online
opens up a world of shopping opportunities. There is no reason
you can’t find the perfect used car for you online, so explore
this site and find out how to do it!
